About the desk

Honest coverage of the passive-income economy.

PassiveWire is an independent publication covering the tools, apps, and methods people use to earn money in the background. The genre is full of hype and half-truths. Our job is to cut through it: test what we can, report the real numbers, and be upfront about the catches.

How we review tools

When we recommend a tool, we have installed it and used it ourselves. We confirm how it actually pays, when money becomes available, what the thresholds and caps are, and where the friction is. If a tool only makes sense for certain people, we say so. If we would not use it, it does not make the list.

How we make money, and how we keep it honest

PassiveWire is reader-supported. Some links to the tools we cover are partner links, which means we may earn a commission if you sign up through them, at no extra cost to you. That revenue funds our reporting.

A partner link never buys a better review. Our verdict is written before any link goes in, and we label partner links on every page.

If our opinion of a tool changes, we update the piece. If a tool stops being worth it, we remove it.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes. If you spot an error, tell us and we will fix it and note the change.

Not financial advice

Everything here is reporting and opinion, not financial advice. What you earn from any tool depends on your own situation, and most passive-income tools pay modestly. Treat them as small supplements, not a salary.
